Publishing and Songwriting

In 1942 Opry Star Roy Acuff and songwriter-musician Fred Rose worked together to form the first publishing house in a time where there was very little movement in the country music publishing industry. In 1946, Hank Williams, another songwriter-musician, joined the team and helped the business take off [1]. Acuff-Rose helped Nashville become the hub of country music, with big recording studios and the Grand Ole Opry as a primary venue [2].

Here is a famous single written by Fred Rose:            [3]

Thanks to Acuff-Rose's pioneering in the publishing and songwriting aspect of  music, there are over 28 major music publishers with offices in Nashville today [5].
